What to Do If Your Debit Card Is Lost or Stolen
Losing a debit card is stressful, but acting quickly limits the damage. Here's exactly what to do.
Step 1: Report It Immediately
The sooner you report a lost or stolen card, the better. Call us as soon as you realize your card is missing:
- During business hours: Call (830) 792-1950
- Outside of business hours: Call (800) 500-1044
Step 2: Review Your Recent Transactions
Log in to online or mobile banking and review your recent transactions. If you see charges you don't recognize, let us know when you call — we can help you dispute unauthorized transactions.
Step 3: Get a Replacement Card
We'll cancel the compromised card and issue you a new one. Replacement cards are typically available within a few business days.
Step 4: Update Automatic Payments
Once you receive your new card, update any automatic payments or subscriptions that were linked to your old card number.
Prevention Tips
- Sign your card as soon as you receive it
- Never write your PIN on your card or store it with your wallet
- Set up account alerts so you're notified of every transaction
- Check your card regularly — especially after traveling or using an ATM
